Christmas in Downtown Anchorage
Photos & Story by Hilary
I love my city! Downtown Anchorage is a great place for a stroll to get into the holiday spirit. Businesses of all kinds have adorned their windows with Christmas decorations, giving our downtown a heart-warming pulse. Here are some pictures of my window shopping adventure of downtown Anchorage.

For the past 33 years, Joe Hickel has built a delightful, amazing gingerbread village in the lobby of the Captain Cook Hotel.

Joe names the homes and businesses of the village after ministers, pastors, and people who have inspired him.

The ice skaters and carousel move to music at the hit of a button on display.

This wonderous village is quite an undertaking, using thousands of pounds of baking materials and taking weeks to complete.

Children enjoy the trees in the lobby of the Captain Cook Hotel.

The trees in Town Square look beautiful in the evening.

Crush Wine Bestro made this Christamas tree from wine corks. This tree won the Downtown Partnership's tree contest.

Once in a Blue Moose on 4th Avenue installed an awesome lighted dog team with Santa sculpture.

The Alaska Visitor's Center gets in the holiday spirit.

Zaks Board Room specializes in snowboard gear and is a popular place to shop this time of year.

Philips 26 Glacier Cruise keeps a beautiful window, even during the winter months.

Kenai Fjords includes some pictures from their cruises in their Christmas window display.

McGinley's Pub is especially cozy this time of year.

Circular is a botique clothing shoppe, and their window comes to life with this lighted dress.

Zoe Z displays some beautiful aurora pictures in their Christmas window.
