Central Oregon
Photos & Story by Cheryl
I decided to fly down to Oregon to visit my buddy Cosmo. Alaska Airlines got me as far as Seattle and then I flew Horizon to Redmond. The Redmond/Bend Airport is quiet and small, just the way I like it. I woke up the next day to SNOW!!! Just what I was trying to get away from. In Central Oregon, the locals say "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" and I can see why as it changes so fast. We went for a lovely walk to Smith Rock State Park where there were rock climbers and later in the day drove to Sisters, Oregon. The next day we adventured to Bend and went to McMenamins Old Francis School where they have the prettiest Soaking Pool with an open-air view of the sky and gently heated saltwater. On my last day, we drove to Steins Pillar in Prineville and hiked to the base. It's hard to tell from the photo but it stands up at 350 feet. Now I'm back in Alaska where the snow is melting fast.
